Steve’s Big Week Off – Day 2/3

Belgium Trance DJ Fred Baker and Steve dropping the beats in ASDA car park

Missing since Monday nights Corned Beef hash concoction we were fearing the worse but finally a status update via Steves’ Facebook has revealed all:

After taking a stroll back down to ASDA to play in the bins Steve bumped into non other than Belgium Trance DJ Fred Baker, producer of the 1996 Ibiza trance anthem “Mystery Land” sparking an impromptu DJ set that was reportedly still in progress at 10am this morning.

Reports are sketchy but apparently the police were called forcing Steve to make a break for it in an ASDA trolley powered by an improvised thruster consisting of 2 litre Coke bottles and several packets of Mentos.

We have no word as of yet to Steve’s current situation or location but we’ll keep you posted…

Steve’s Big Week Off – Day 1

Corned Beef Tash?

It’s that time of the year again when Steve takes a week off to lather himself up and take long romantic trips to Asda. Day one of his big week off has been quite eventful:

11:20 - Took a long bath and washed the pile of flies off the shower controls.

15:00 - Took a stroll down to Asda and bought myself some Ragu and a fancy new corned beef trolley.

19:00 - Cooked myself a corned beef hash and took a gentle walk back down to Asda to play in the bins.

Wonder what tomorrow will bring for Steve!

Teatering on the edge

On an average day, Paul makes around ten requests for tea. We don’t really mind making it for him as he only has one tiny leg with a hoof on the end. Today though, he pushed his luck when he dropped the following nugget:

“I can’t feel me hoof, make me a cup of tea so I can dip it in”

Paul’s tidy desk

Friday is cleaning day here in the Azure office. Paul has a lot to clean, as shown here in our EXCLUSIVE image. When asked to comment Paul rambled about tomatoes and screamed something inappropriate.

One Way Flaps

There's only one way this is going
This shouldn’t be so funny, and we shouldn’t be so immature, but it is, and we are.

Case for the World Cup

We’ve been privileged enough to have been involved in quite a bit of work in the build up to the World Cup this year (check out the FSF Free Lions World Cup site), work that involved short deadlines, long hours, weary eyes and stressed brains, but work that only intensified our anticipation for the competition to start…

The signs were there a few weeks ago, we just didn’t spot them. The more we worked and talked football, the more withdrawn some members of the office became. Now the Azure office is split.

I’m not talking about Designers versus Developers, (or good versus evil, as it’s more commonly known) which is a battle that has raged since the start of time (for the uneducated amongst you, a developer can spoil just about anything that looks nice just to make it work). I’m talking about the division only a World Cup can bring.

Not only are us devotees of the beautiful game subjected to constant questions in our own home on the whereabouts of Eastenders, Coronation Street, the remote control, fridge space and, on particularly good nights down the pub, our persons, it seems the football fan is now classed as a second-class citizen in the workplace.

At the mere hint of leaving the office early to catch an afternoon kick-off the football fan is branded as lazy and workshy. The suggestion of getting a TV in the office is written off with the excuse of noise and distraction.

“How can you concentrate on work if you’re watching the game?”

“Well I would be down the pub but that’s where the lazy folk are.”

I may be a simple man, but what’s wrong the philosophy of sleeping, eating, working and – if necessary – taking toilet breaks between games and between games only? Olympics apart, the World Cup is the only truly global competition there is, and 35% of the Azure office will be embracing that fact while turning a blind ear to the protests of the other 65%.

Ironically the minority of the office will be united by a bond that only football can provide, while the majority will fight back against the pain of being left out. Unfortunately it’s a game of two halves, some people will be as sick as a parrot, and that’s just football.
