FC Azure Design Snatch Silverware in Blaze of Glory

Following a long and keenly fought season in the Pallion Carpets Wednesday Night 5-a-side League at Crowtree Leisure Centre FC Azure Design were delighted to finally clinch a trophy.

"Was it a glorious cup triumph?" you might well ask. Nope.

"Did the plucky Azure boys run away with league?" Not quite.

"Please God, no, not the fair play league?" We wouldn't admit it if we had. Besides, Neil ruined our chances of that when he got a red after someone ruffled his hair.

In fact, dear visitor, the sum total of FC Azure Design's season, the only thing we've actually physically won, ever, was the pub quiz at June's AGM and awards ceremony.

Yes, a stalwart performance from midfield dymo (the things that punch letters onto plastic tape, as opposed to dynamo) Chris Scorps, the odd half guess from hirsute top-scorer Dave Gourlay, some... er... writing down of answers from Neil Howe and sensitive, but still manly, emotional support from Ed Cook inspired a remarkable comeback that saw FC Azure turn around a three point deficit going into the last round. (Actually, despite missing the first round, I got every single one of the answers for the lads, but since I'm writing this guff, it would be indelicate to say so - Peter).

OK, it's only a poxy pub quiz, but we bagged £150 for our trouble and, more than that, FC Azure Design are now officially winners. We'll have new strips for next season to prove it. New strips anyone?

The triumphant athletes of FC Azure Design celebrate their mighty achievement by blowing their free drinks vouchers on something green (and then drinking something red almost immediately afterwards).
